Knowledges Interchange
Recognizing the plurality of our knowledges, and anticipating the positive outcomes from the interchangeAbout
Who am I? My name is Elizabeth and I live in British Columbia, Canada. For many years before I launched this blog in 2007, I had been thinking about knowledges in the plural. There are many postings which explain why and I invite you to explore them. At the root of my arguments is the belief that the diversity of human understanding, experience and scholarship cannot be captured by the word knowledge, in the singular. I hope my readers will accept this simple proposition.
However, with acceptance comes the imperative to do something about that. If we have collective knowledges, just imagine what can be achieved if we share them. We need to create an environment which allows for the interchange of knowledges. I had originally described this as a knowledges exchange, but my thinking now is that an interchange is a richer concept. As my blog evolves, I encourage readers to challenge, question, argue, share their knowledges and revel in the interchange.

Hi Elizabeth,
I happened upon your website and found it to be very interesting. I am Team Leader for VIT World in Second Life. We appear to be working on the same thing using different approaches. I won’t go into the details here as you can review them on the wiki.
However, at VIT World we are working on several projects to develop better ways to find, store, retrieve and analyze information which will result in creating knowledge faster. We are doing this by using a combination of the power of the Second Life 3D platform, the 2D Web and group collaboration.
If you are interested, let’s get together and exchange ideas, either in Second Life, via email or Skype.
Regards,
George
